Chasm's edge

Life exists behind a colorful patina
As reality dances its blissful gig
Seeming order creates an illusion
Of pain filled pleasurable imprints

Here stands a pristine flower
Just blossomed in nature's womb
Evening brings along its quiet fall
As it wilts silently into night's tomb

A seeming peace exists in homes
Parents, children, family, friends
But there is a quiet despair lurking
That surfaces and calmness ends

Truth is not this play of contrasts
It smiles delightfully in the void
As life winks on and off eternal
Witnessing ever, quite over joyed

I stand on the brink cautious and clean
Clinging to the nebulous strands of life
While bliss beckons from the deep chasm
Inviting me to dive in, freed of strife

A homeless person, unclean and drunk
A shiftless beggar standing quite forlorn
In a street wise woman of wily charm
I see God in her many colorful forms

There is a need to tear free of bondage
Opening the heart to love's deluge
Which shall sweep away life's memories
Revealing truth that fills nature profuse
