Spiritual strife

My life was defined by many goals in the past decades
There are only a few left now to release from stockade
Even these are rapidly coming to a complete closure
And time is becoming ripe for beginning a transfer

I wear my suit of armor and prepare every day for war
With well oiled blade I thrust and parry, constant spar
At day's end I doff my worn shields and lay myself down
Sleep comes in like a stealthy fox, whose cunning renown

I slip into meditative state prior to temporary death
Cleansing the attachments that have accrued by stealth
Forgiveness for past mistakes, chief amongst them mine
Sending love and compassion to everyone, children divine

Morrow brings similar challenges with habitual response
The trick is not to lose heart and lapse into remorse
Nocturnal pearl shines in the sky, but wanes to wax
Our spiritual endeavor is alike, ardent now and then lax
