Daily alchemy

I was riding the busy roadway today headed homeward
My eyes slid across Nature's display, spirit's reward
Spring's arrival was indicated in the blush of bloom
Life was stirring and about lifting off winter's gloom

Life giving star was high in the sky flooding light
A humble plant was performing magic, low in height
It transformed light to matter, using green pigment
A druid's work indeed, no mere imagination's figment

I saw a tall tree, strong and erect, resisting wind
And next to it a smaller plant, almost current's rescind
I couldnt sense any envy on the part of smaller life
There was no desire in it to emulate larger size

Existence was worth enough for all of Nature's denizens
Survival of fittest not evident amongst its citizens
Only if we could learn by observing our plant brethren
Leave your schools, and sit in a garden, for deliverance
