Eclipse

Light suffuses the darkened sky
Bright ruler has left his kingdom
Leaving behind a pearly jewel
Casting subtle light as a diadem

She waxes and she wanes quite
That is her rhythm of blissful life
Serving as inspiration for a poet
Lightening the load of great strife

Reflecting a greater glory beyond
She teaches us the truth of freedom
Our life is a reflection thus of truth
That leaves us in life quite seldom

Now and then a shadow is cast
Plunging the orb into an eclipse
But like life's challenges will pass
As God pulls us out of the abyss
