Impenetrable self

Life as we see it is a mere projection of the mind
But the imagery is created such that it seems real
The creative power of the universal mind is thus
It makes us believers in our own illusory veneer

Elation and depression rise up as if waves in a sea
One moment riding on crest and next in a trough
The individual life seems chaotic and quite random
As if like an autumn leaf tossed about in a tempest

No matter where life may take us in its journey
Whether in a joyous enclave of family and friends
Or in solitude amidst the eternal silence of grace
We are ever the indestructible truth in essence

When love departs unannounced taking final flight
As attachments chain us to grief that is intolerable
Remain confident that your essential self remains
It is inviolate and pure, and by sorrow impenetrable
