There lived a person in a small town who was with friends
They all were intimate and were inseparably entrenched
They swore to each other that they will never be separate
No matter what their lives bring their friendship inviolate
But attachments are always fragile and cannot withstand time
As and when opportunities come they start drifting aside
Life's chances do not repeat themselves especially in love
When a bright future does present itself as if from above
Holding oneself back for mere selfish considerations not wise
Thinking of the greater good is always quite a noble choice
Those moving on and those left behind are not held in trial
There are neither aggressor nor victim in this game terrestrial
The correct way then to protect onself is to be without attachment
Not only from a spiritual perspective but also to avoid detriment
Relying on external relationships can prove to be a fatal choice
Especially when those depart who have to listen to destiny's voice
