Brighter depth

Today I realized the trap that the ego creates for the unwary
It manifests as daily duties that exact from us quite an usury
It is never done while we live and is like the Augean stable
That can never be cleaned even by the lofty and the noble

I saw people walking and running along with their pets
Not to be left out, I took my body along for a quick spurt
It came along obediently and seemed to be cooperative
At times it did fade away and was seemingly deceptive

But I did manage to grasp it firm and finally got it home
I quickly created a framework of space-time in a globe
Then I populated it with denizens of my choice to interact
I got carried away with my own cleverness and lost tact

I had to then check myself and get back to contemplation
I roamed the byways of consciousness in deep meditation
The single eye throbbed with the stirrings of deeper self
All around light cascaded in rippling falls of brighter depth
