The warfront was very frenetic today and the casualties many
I longed for the sun's demise, so that I could rest from the agony
Deep scars had been made during the course of the battle's rage
I needed to sit in solitude awhile and make an attempt to assuage
The enemy was in the shadows, lurking in deepest shades of black
Not clearly seen is the foe, and none can say when it shall attack
Is it real or is it merely a figment of my imagination: I give pause
But the pain of its thrust is very real as I recoil from its claws
The divine armor is not strong enough to hold its force at bay
It is devious and strikes both from within and without in relay
I had practiced earlier to deflect its thrust and parry quite well
But when the battle front is reached sometimes lessons dont jell
I have a moment of respite now from its incessant demands on life
I have doffed my helmet and shed my tattered armor cut into slice
Dropping into a hallowed corner in a silent chapel filled with peace
I close my tired eyes and pray for cessation of torment and release
