Entombed lesson

And close to the place that I travel to now and then
There is a path that goes by a cemetery weather beaten
I am fascinated by its ambience and always take a look
There are countless tombstones in every cranny and nook

Each tombstone hides a story which was important then
But with final appointment ceases to be significant
The frenetic pursuit of name and fame is quite futile
The stress that we undergo for their sake wasted life

A peace envelops the graveyard that is beyond words
In the midst of death's evidence there are rewards
There were mounds of earth marking where interred
And amidst there are patches where blooms flowered

There were couples who loved each other lifelong
And those who fought bitterly unable to get along
Both lie in proximity back in their original womb
My greatest lessons were learnt by side of a tomb
