Light's end

Life is ubiquitous and springs forth without restraint everywhere
A sap filled tree, a lovely colored flower and nimble hopping hare
Even under a nondescript rock, there is a world of teeming organisms
Living and dying in an universe, sharing and living without antagonism

We assert life and deny death, but they are two sides of a coin
Nature knows this as does the tree, flower, and hare by enjoin
Order comes in the form of life following death in endless cycle
Universes shuffle in cascading light forms casting shadows fickle

I see this and yet dont realize my folly in holding onto bondage
Calling a divine spirit my son, and creating a relation of hostage
Every day I define my happiness in terms of his progress and welfare
Not realizing my commitment to pain, dealing to God a hand unfair

Until one day I see him fall into peril and forfeit his vitality
He lies on his bed, wasting away as he starts losing his alacrity
I sit by his side and watch and pray to the Divine with all my might
Finally, he holds my hand, smiles, and his eyes close, bereft of light
