Higher Learning

I am attending classes in an university of great distinction
Where admission is free, and you learn based on reflection
Its portals are always open year around, its lessons legion
Its teachers are varied, and class rooms have a rare ambience

There is an extension close to my home, I can just walk across
Or if I so prefer, I can be seated at my table quite engrossed
Sometimes the classes are of frenetic pace, filled with action
At other times quite leisurely, subtle without any compulsion

It imparts a combination of theory and practice, quite intertwined
There is no sense of being taught, it is gentle, not determined
Its principles are eternal and withstand the assault of time
Practical work is miraculous and constantly transcends mind

Nature it is called, and its work is inexorable and never done
It exists in blissful tranquility: basking gently under the sun
Cooperation is its watchword and there is no fight for survival
Learning this lesson will help mortals avoid life's upheavals
