I hastened to rectify the error, as else it might be an affront
I asked her what she would like to have, from my humble home
Seeing that she had the choice of visiting others of renown
I rushed to get a cup of tea, and returned to find her gone
It was then that I realized she had quietly taken me along

In obedience to this dictat of his father, Nachiketas, went to the abode of Yama, who instantly, recognizing the boy’s exalted spiritual stature, received him with all the respect due to a Mahatma. Further, Yama said that he was ready to grant any boon that the boy would care to ask of him.The first boon that the boy asked for was that his Father should forget his anger against him, and this was immediately granted by Yama. The boy then proceeded to ask the next boon and this was, that he wanted to be enlightened by Yama, who was supposed to be the repository of all spiritual wisdom, as to what really happened to a person after his death. As this knowledge was sacred and secret, and was not to be imparted to anyone indiscriminately, much less to a boy of Nachiketa’s tender age,Yama was in a real quandary, and he tried to wriggle out of the situation by requesting Nachiketas to ask for any boon other than the one he had just asked for. Yama even promised him lordship over all the three worlds, if he would agree to withdraw his request. But the boy refused to take the bait and stuck to his demand to be enlightened and ultimately, Yama had to give in and teach the boy, the sacred doctrine of life and death and life after death. Do you now see the similarity that I referred to at the beginning of this comment?
