While there are many byways leading to the goal
Unerring is the shining path shown by the soul
Which is the path of least effort and great joy
But the ego masks our sight in a cunning ploy
That causes us despair when all sides are blocked
By seemingly distressing events, leaving us shocked
Unable to progress, and drained of strength and will
But nonetheless we have to live in this world still
By dint of hard work and mind's invincible resources
We can overcome such ennui, and soul's peace enforces
Diligently setting our sights on what needs to be
Rather than what our faulty ego wants us to see
There are times as it where when we have to pull
Almost by the bootstraps to a higher level full
Of peace and harmony that beckons to us ever and anon
Showing our real self, that ego creates illusions upon
