The number of people who know your work blesses with sanctity
And that is the norm for almost any measure of success in life
More of certain quantities are prescribed as the winner's prize
But fame is a fickle mistress and shall deal out pain with pleasure
No sooner obtained than it becomes a prison of painful measure
The receiver starts behaving to satisfy the wants of the many
And in the process loses his creative ability and descends to infamy
Any talent possessed in small or great measure is paraded for show
And has to be compulsorily recognized by society's ebb and flow
Where is the scope for a skill to be nurtured in such state of duress?
There is no means for the inner spirit to blossom while in distress
A creative gift is to be assumed with nonchalance and disregard for fame
There is no appropriation needed to exercise God's gift given away
A hidden treasure is still of great value and this is found in its essence
Exploiting it is needless as its mere existence provides bliss endless
