Unshaken core

A sacrificial fire was built and offerings started to be made
It was time to reduce attachments and free myself from fate
I could see my existence stretching to infinity, now to yore
There were dizzying forms and worlds that had gone before

I was the unbroken thread unifying experiences that varied
Aggressor and victim were the same, spirit's vessels carried
There were moments of great joy, and those of abysmal sorrow
Itinerant fancies were pursued governed by time's steady arrow

At each time it seemed to me that present was of extreme import
But there was always something to assail current issue and deport
Time's sleight of hand was always mesmerizing inspite of repeat
With similar cause I waited for alternate effect, through deceit

Victory and defeat were blurring in type as I cycled through time
My vanquisher was no more joyous than he fell to parrying knife
Knowing this through intense meditation I realized true stability
Which is not shaken by life's opposites, based as it is on divinity
