Time's cause

Do you feel the need to be free of all encumbrances that hold you back?
Arent there times when you felt that this world is a place that has a lack?
You hear about the ability of some masters to transcend space and time
They perform miracles that enable them to bend the laws governing life

We are ceaselessly bound by the fluctuations of time's inexorable march
All our youthful life is spent in running after goals set by its various cause
Many of these goals are completely pointless and arbitrary, yet inviolate
Even to question them we dont have the time and they seem set in state

Even when we get some leisure we dont seek to solve the puzzle of time
But quickly fill up that space with additional activities of various kinds
Reflection on the purpose of time is considered to be a wasted effort
It is considered a fundamental building block of life and beyond any reproach

But deep inside our psyche we harbor a question: is this really inviolate and real?
Or is this a vast trick that is played on us creating goals distant and quite near?
If real then we are doomed because there seems to be no escape from its clutch
And if unreal then who is it that plays this trick on us - must be quite a wretch

The truth is it is a trick and the perpetrator is easily seen by looking in a mirror
Our desires are infinite and eternal and they cause time to be created as a river
We fulfil our desires using time as medium and thus create more impressions
The constant creation and dissipation of desires manifests as time's progression
