Scars of Victory

Sometimes pain and misery visit our lives unexpected
These cause turbulence and our mind's peace is interrupted
At such times we strive hard to get rid of the nuisance
And peace prevails only when we are free of encumbrance

Thus for example we struggle hard to overthrow illness
Our body and mind lose their peace as we lose fitness
We make trips incessant to the doctors for alleviation
And when disease fades into peace we have a celebration

When there is a birth in the family there is rejoicing
The new arrival is heralded with fanfare and dancing
And then here is death that is greeted with deep misery
It was a full life that ended yet there is no festivity

We are able to handle the fulfilment of our desires
And our ability to deal with victory is precocious
We feel that our inability lies in dealing with loss
And that defeat takes away our life's glitter and gloss

But in truth it is easier to get over mind's injuries
Our innate nature makes us overcome emotional penuries
But the mind's impressions of victory are more insidious
It is their stilling that make's our spirit victorious
