Regarding Knowledge

Our notion of knowledge needs to be revamped: we are strong in our belief that knowledge is something that is "out there" and that we are separate from that which we seek to know.

And that results in considerable angst as we diligently pursue our goal, which sometimes turns out to be a moving target at best, or a chimera at worst.

The truth of the matter is that we are one with that which we seek to know and thus all we need to do is bring our attention to the moment and access whatever knowledge it is that is a part of our consciousness and that is relevant to the task at hand.

Our very thoughts will help in crystallizing what is needed: unfortunately we vastly overrate action and equally underrate thought. Anything that is in the realm of thought is treated as something fanciful and not complete until it is translated into the material realm through action.

But thoughts by themselves are as powerful as the material results of an action and by paying attention to our thoughts we can access this essential field of knowledge that is inseparable from us.

I believe that we can enrich our thoughts by spending time every day paying attention to them. There are many techniques to achieve this and one of them is to sit in a darkened room with minimal distractions and observe the thoughts that stream across the mindscape.

At the end of a pre-determined interval of time, say 10 minutes, of such intense observation: a process that doesnt ignore even the smallest of thoughts, and which doesnt perform any judgement at all: insights start appearing. Problems that seemed intractable before, suddenly become amenable for a solution.

This process also enhances the subsequent, inevitable action phase because now we are acting with insight and with the knowing that the solution is possible. This considerably enhances the efficiency of action.

Thus introspection leads not only to self-knowledge, more importantly, it leads to the realization that self is knowledge.

I have this comment to make about the little piece that you have penned under the heading"knowledge". If you have downloaded the "Gitanjali" from the website, then I suggest that you read the verse under the heading "Journey Home", where you will find that the immortal Bard has penned his thoughts, which are surprisingly in conformity with the ideas that you have expressed in your little piece referred to above.
